Im writting this review while still checked in. The rooms and location is perfect but the staff is rude. We are checking out on monday, we went out this morning to have breakfast and came back to our room door not opening. Only to find out they thought we checked out. If you want peace of mind rather book a self catering unit otherwise you will regret it. I can go on the whole day about pathetic service we have received in this place.

We were just day visitors. However the hotel and chalets looked exceptional. Beautiful view across the dam and hills. Will definitely like to come stay there sometime. Nearby activities: Several outdoor games located at the "beach" club. Incredible... Absolutely incredible... The scenes just take your breath away... An inexplicable feeling and site that you just have to see and experience for yourself... A ton of amenities on site, so good cocoon for the weekend with family and loved ones... Can book room(s) or a whole villa, really depends on what you're looking for... Rooms: Very clean and kept rooms... Excellent service if you have any issues... The room we had only had a fan and no aircon, not complaining though... Nearby activities: Boat bruises around the dam in the vicinity, quad bikes, water activities, a warm pool with the best view you'll ever get, miniature golf, a spa... Please see website for exhaustive list... Safety: Place of save and secure, if sharing a villa with others, you're given a card that opens the communal doors and your designated room (which has its own patio and bathroom, so worry not...) Walkability: Most things are within walking distance, however, some wheels will make the experience much more enjoyable and convenient... Food & drinks: Restaurants and store on site, mainly at the reception building... Then there's another store at the beach club...

We stayed at Cayley Lodge for the first time last week and absolutely loved it. The staff were all friendly, the cleaners were exceptionally friendly (they deserve a special mention!), and everything was spotless – seriously, not a speck out of place. The grounds are beautiful, the view is unreal, and the whole place just has that calm, “you can finally exhale” feeling. They even surprised my wife for her birthday – completely unexpected and incredibly thoughtful. They didn’t have to, but they went out of their way to make it special, and that really says everything about the heart of this place.

Really nice place definitely a must do. I would recommend that they improve food at the Bell & Wistle. My husband and I are currently at the lodge as I type this review, we check out tomorrow and I must say we are extremely impressed. The resort is such a beautiful place, everything about Cayley screams luxury vacation. Resort has so much to do from fun activities to restaurants. We haven't left the resort from check in. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. We are having an amazing time and already planning our next visit! Rooms: We booked a double room with patio it is beautiful & spacious for a couple. The bathrom is huge which is absolutely awesome. Bathroom has a shower and a tub. Nearby activities: The resort has so many activities to offer. Multiple water activities to choose from, archery, paintball,quad biking,tennis cort,jacuzzi,pools,put put and lots more. The chocolate bar is a few km away from resort. Safety: Cayley Mountain Resort is extremely safe. Resort is gated & fenced. Rooms have access cards to enter. Safe undercover parking for vehicles. Walkability: The room we booked was walking distance close to reception and nearby activities. We only drove to the beach club. Food & drinks: The Bell and Wistle restaurant is a lovely chill restaurant. The food was also quite nice. Service from staff was also good. There is also the steam cafe, the view cafe by the infinity pool and another restaurant at the beach club

Safety: 24 hour on site. Great security. However lighting in car park shelters need to be better lit to assist night parking. Perhaps the pole supports should be painted white. Difficult to maneuvre at night. Walkability: Ample grassed areas to exercise and relax. Food & drinks: Stayed in self catering units. Well appointed and also had meals at restaurant. Excellent. Noteworthy details: Reception staff Diya and colleagues were very helpful and very efficient.

Fantastic views and a great family-friendly resort. We had a lovely stay here. The view over the Drakensberg mountains is really impressive – the resort sits on a hill and overlooks a wide green valley. On clear days (no mist or clouds), you can see really far. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The apartment itself was spacious, clean and cosy. We stayed in unit A (the biggest part of the house, which is split into A, B, and C), and didn’t hear our neighbours at all. Two bathrooms, both with a bath and a shower. The open-plan living room and kitchen made it feel very homely. Beds were super comfy – even the sofa bed for the kids was fine. Kitchen had everything we needed, including an air fryer! There’s a warm jacuzzi outside which was perfect in the cool evenings. Around the resort you’ll find a midget golf course, a giant outdoor chessboard, a kids' game room, and plenty of parking. WiFi worked well everywhere. The café served good coffee, and breakfast in the restaurant was fine – choice was limited to 4 options, but the English and continental breakfasts were solid. We also had dinner twice at the restaurant (‘The Bell and Whistle’). Nice menu, good wine list, proper pizza oven. Kids liked the pizza – although it was a bit oily. Check-in and out was smooth, helped by the fact everything was prepaid and restaurant bills were cashless. Overall, a really enjoyable and relaxing stay – would happily return.

What a fantastic getaway. Very clean. Nice rooms. Jacuzzi suits. Heated pool. Tennis 🎾 courts. Putt putt. Beautiful view. Very quite and peaceful. Really enjoyed ourself.

Visiting this resort felt like stepping into a beautiful slice of heaven. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Everything was impeccably maintained, and there were endless activities for both adults and kids to enjoy. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect getaway, my only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

The self catering units were tastefully furnished, modern interior & clean, the unit was kitted out with everything one could possibly need, we stayed in the 3-bedroom unit with splash pool: unit 27 & the views were spectacular. We were very well looked after by the waiters, waitresses, kiosk assistant, room cleaners & front desk staff. Their service was exceptional, fast and friendly.

I’m still at Cayley with 7 adults and 5 children enjoying the views, the facilities and the wonderful hospitality. Everything has improved dramatically since the reception , restaurant and shop was upgraded last year. It is still amazing since our last stay and the facilities are unbelievably good. The only complaint is that the WiFi network is unsecured and cannot be used with a VPN turned on. Why I don’t know, but I am reluctant to enter sites that are confidential or possibly hacked. Rooms: Hi end with everything you can expect in a luxury villa. Very well appointed.

We stopped at Cayley for 2 nights. It has a lot to offer and has the most beautiful views. We could also use it as a base for exploring the area (for example, the cafes and shops in the area and the bird of prey centre). We didn’t have the best check in as the person at the reception seemed to be having an off day & was not very pleasant or helpful — it’s also worth noting that some villas have a very loud pumps that kept the more sensitive sleepers in our group awake & the restaurant is honestly not very good. Otherwise, great for kids and groups! Lots of room & heated pools. Would definitely return.

Cayley is one of the most beautiful and luxurious accommodations in the Drakensberg. We thoroughly enjoyed the private splash pool which was big enough for our family of four and heated. Wow!
